The EBCT Scanner
About Body Scan
Electron Beam Computed Tomography (EBCT) is a new diagnostic tool for the detection of atherosclerotic disease in its earliest stage. Numerous studies have shown that conventional clinical risk scores fail to identify a large percentage of patients with significant atherosclerotic burden. EBCT has the highest accuracy (99%) of clearing patients for atherosclerotic disease among all non-invasive imaging techniques. Its radiation exposure is comparable to that of a mammogram and about 20 times less than conventional CT scans.
At Cypress Preventive Imaging, we provide the following services with our EBCT Scanner:
Uses low doses of radiation (20 times less than conventional CT Scans) to create cross-section images of your heart which can then be computed into a 3D model.
Typically scans from the neck to the pelvis to assess all major organs excluding the brain. This test also uses the low dosage of radiation that is characteristic of EBCT Scanners.
As an alternative to a colonoscopy, a 'virtual colonoscopy' can be performed by our EBCT machine. This is a non-invasive scan of the colon that uses low doses of radiation to create a virtual map for analysis.
This test checks for the build-up of calcium in plaque inside your coronary arteries. Normally, these arteries don't contain calcium; the presence of calcium is an indicator of Coronary Artery Disease.
- Men ages 45-76
- Women ages 55-76
- All Diabetics
- Individuals at intermediate or higher risk for Coronary Heart Disease
